How do I register for CIS hockey?
Registration for Clipper Ice Sports is done via the Hockey Canada Registration (“HCR”) system.

My child hasn’t registered for hockey before, do I have to create a new account with Hockey Canada?
Yes! If your child is a first-time hockey player, you will have to create an account with Hockey Canada in order to register.

We have recently moved to the area. How do we transfer to CIS and update our address?
If you have recently moved to the area and require a transfer, please complete the form applicable to your situation prior to registering. Please send the completed form to cisvicepresident@gmail.com.

What are the registration fees for the 2023-24 hockey season?
Registration fees for each age group are as follows:

Additional notes:
- Evaluations are now mandatory for all U9-U13 players due to an Eastman initiative. Evaluation fees will have a separation registration process but will be open the same day as hockey registration. Please ensure that this is completed. There will not be a separate evaluation fee payable in September as there has been in prior years.
- Please select CHEQUE as method of payment if your child is trying out for a team outside of CIS (high school, AA/AAA Eastman teams). Please let CIS know before October 1 if your child makes a higher-level team or if they will be playing with CIS.
Does CIS offer a payment plan?
Yes! In addition to full payment at time of registration, CIS also offers a 3-payment plan:
- 40% at time of registration
- 30% due October 31st
- 30% due November 30th
If you choose to pay via credit card, payments will automatically be charged to your card on the payment dates. If you don't have a credit card and want to sign up for the 3-payment plan, please contact cisvicepresident@gmail.com.
What is the refund policy?
CIS will provide refunds to members who do not wish to continue playing hockey. To be eligible for a refund, please submit an email to the registrar clippersvicepresident@gmail.com.
- Prior to Sept 1, 2023 - full refund minus a $50 administration fee
- Prior to Sept 29, 2023 – partial refund (registration fee less Eastman fee, Hockey Manitoba fee, Hockey Manitoba fee and $50 administration fee)
- After Sept 29, 2023 – no refunds
The executive members of the Board have the discretion to accept and process late filed refund applications but reserve the right to apply additional fees.
What do registration fees cover?
- Ice rental fees (practices and games)
- Referee fees
- Hockey Manitoba fees (includes insurance)
- Eastman league team and individual fees
- Evaluation fees
- Use of game jerseys and socks
- Equipment (pucks, nets, cones, first aid kids, etc)
- Player and goalie development
- Coaching development
Yes. At the beginning of the season, teams will collect additional fees to pay for team specific expenses, such as tournament entry fees. In general, team fees range from $100-$300 per player depending on the age group. Team fees will be discussed with your team at the start of the season.
Does CIS do any fundraisers during the year?
CIS has one fundraiser planned during the year to help cut costs of hockey registration. The fundraiser is Cash Calendars and every family is required to sell 10 cash calendar raffle tickets at a cost of $20 each for a total of $200. This can be paid at the time of registration via the Hockey Canada site or at the start of the hockey season. Families with more than one child registered please click the calendar option only for your youngest child registered with CIS.
When does the season begin and end?
The season begins after the September long weekend and ends in late Feb/early March. Key dates below – these are subject to change by gives an approximate timeline for the month:
- Sept 5-22: Conditioning skates (U9-U18)
- Sept 23-30: Evaluation skates (MANDATORY for U9-U13)
- Last Week of Sept/First Week of October – Evaluation skate (U7 only)
- First Week of October: Formation of teams for the season
What night/date/time/location will be child be playing?
This is a difficult question to answer before the season starts as we do not know what our registration numbers will be. We understand it makes it difficult to plan other activities for your child when you don't know their hockey schedule. Unfortunately, with numerous teams, there are a lot of moving parts and it takes time to finalize schedules. We will make every effort to get a schedule out as early as possible and we appreciate your patience!
What is the Respect in Sport Online Course?
Hockey Manitoba has implemented the mandatory online Respect in Sport Parent Program. For a child to be eligible to play on a sanctioned Hockey Manitoba team, this online course must be completed by at least one parent or legal guardian of any minor hockey player. The RIS Parent Program is separate from the RIS Coach/Manager certification and therefore must be completed regardless of whether you have taken the RIS Coach certification in the past. The cost of this online program is $12 + GST.
